Load Testing Pricing Plans

ISVs have a particular budget problem when it comes to buying automated load testing tools-often their budget does not meet their requirements for testing for all of their client’s different web application environments. Many vendors of performance testing products have programs that offer discount software, but I believe Quotium Technologies is one of the best in the industry for an affordable price and extending the offer to the ISV’s clients. Check out the Quotium ISV program and ask for a price quote.

ISV Contractual Obligations

ISVs face an interesting problem with their customers when it comes to contractual obligations, several ISV customers require that an ISV's web application will perform well in their environment or the ISV will fix the issue or compensate the client. The problem for the ISV is demonstrating scalability across many diverse web environments. Such benchmarking requires a huge investment in software and hardware infrastructure on the part of ISVs without any guarantee of a return if they have no clients that actually have a particular configuration.

ISVs will look towards testing centers for solutions that keep their costs lower in such circumstances.

When an ISV has to test their application at the client's location, the cost of automated load testing tools and monitors for different environments, will result in an ISV raising the cost of their solution for their clients.

With this situation in mind, Quotium Technologies has developed an ISV program that provides testing tools and monitors to ISVs and their clients at an affordable cost. To learn more about this program visit the Quotium ISV program webinar page.

Proving Web Performance For ISV Clients

Web performance is important to independent software vendor clients. If an ISV cannot prove their application will perform in their client's environment with existing benchmarks, a client will either require an ISV to test the application or test the application themselves. Often clients will include a clause in their contract with clients, if applications fail to perform, an independent software vendor may find they have to take the application back.

Software Companies Look for Testing Tools

In the interview with John Rosky yesterday, John talked about the general issue of his management not wanting to purchase an automated testing tool because they did not see the ROI. With applications becoming ever more complex and longer, I think it is getting to the point where you will always have to use automated testing tools for some tasks. The size and volume of work requires that you look for some cost effective ways to reduce the costs of testing.

"In my previous job, my manager had used WinRunner at another company, she tried for 2 years to convince management to buy the product, but the price scared them off, they wanted to know if the tool would ever give a good ROI. We were a small development shop part of a larger company and keeping within a low budget was top priority. We were already paying a developer; they thought: why not create a homegrown testing tool."

The above story is something we hear a lot at Quotium Technologies, especially from independent software vendors. ISVs have an even bigger problem, as they may have to benchmark their application for several client environments.

Independent Software Vendors

Independent Software Vendors have some of the toughest performance problems in the web application industry. ISVs operating in multiple databases, platforms and web servers have to benchmark their application across multiple web application environments. Customers will only go so far in accepting an ISVs standards, and if the customer's environment is not included in that configuration then a customer will want to conduct performance testing within their own environment. Understanding the unique problems faced by ISVs, Quotium Technologies has put together an ISV program that provides special licensing for both the ISV and their customers.

ISV Pressures To Benchmark Application Performance

ISV

The pressure to benchmark an ISV's web application comes from two sources. One, the customer, a customer wants to know an ISVs application will work within their environment. And two, an ISVs investors or board of directors, investors want to know that the application is competitive in the marketplace.
